LIGHTNING RODS DO not attract bolts of lightning. Lightning will strike regardless of the presence of a lightning rod. A lightning rod serves to protect the structure from the strike. It channels the lightning to the ground, saving the building from the brunt of the strike. Lightning strikes are so powerful that the structure needs a protector. The lightning rod is the hinge that connects us with who we are going to become. The lightning rod in our lives is the person who protects us from the lightning strike. They either deflect the strike or encourage the person and build them back up. Connection is the shared experience, relatedness, and the feeling of oneness with someone else. Connection with others is a primary need for us all. It is as important to our development as shelter and safety. Connection is how we build our confidence.
